How Faith Got Heavy & How to Live Free
Most people aren’t exhausted by Jesus. They’re exhausted by the version of Him they were handed in His name.
Because when you don’t see grace as the reason Jesus already made His home in us, you inevitably turn faith into a transaction—and the Church into a weekly glucose shot to manage your spiritual levels.
Nobody sets out to do this.
It just… happens.
Quietly. Culturally. Structurally.
And before you know it, the freedom Jesus promised feels like a finish line instead of a starting point.
Let’s pull the curtain back.
When grace becomes “help,” God becomes your coach.
If grace is just God giving you “another chance,” you end up with:
God cheering when you're on a roll,
sighing when you slip,
waiting for you to “outgrow needing grace.”
Grace becomes a motivator, a scoreboard, a performance review. Which is a problem, because if grace depends on your progress, it’s not God’s grace.
Everything else distorts from here.
When grace feels conditional, faith becomes transactional.
Prayers turn into negotiations:
“If I trust enough…”
“If I obey enough…”
“If I serve enough…”
Faith becomes leverage—a cosmic vending machine: insert the right obedience, receive blessing.
And transactional faith always leads to insecurity—because the moment faith becomes an “if I… then God…” equation, your peace depends on how you’re performing instead of who Jesus already is for you.
This is why the exhausted stay exhausted, the lonely stay quiet, and the confident become arrogant.
When faith is a transaction, church becomes insulin.
The Church Jesus started gets treated like a spiritual pharmacy:
“I need to get my levels right.”
“I need to go here to worship God.”
“I need a boost to feel connected.”
So church becomes: maintenance, management, obligation, guilt regulation.
It’s why people feel guilty when they miss, high when they’re consistent,
ashamed when life gets chaotic—convinced “growth = attendance to something Jesus never created.
None of this is the gospel.
None of this is the kingdom.
None of this is Jesus.
But when grace = your union with Him, everything shifts.
Grace isn’t God’s patience with your limited progress. It’s His unshakeable presence in your life.
Grace isn’t a push to be better—it’s God refusing to define you by your resume.
In short:
Grace is a lark—a divine joke on the improvement game religion invented.
And suddenly:
Faith becomes trust — not a transaction.
Church becomes friendship — not a franchise.
Discipleship becomes helping others trust — not perform.
Spiritual growth becomes awakening — not achievement.
Freedom becomes the starting point — not the reward.
This is the life of God expressed in ordinary humans. And once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
THE BELIEF
Being a disciple of Jesus isn’t about striving to be more. It’s learning to trust who He already is for us—and helping others do the same.
This is the Church Jesus started. And it lives wherever you are.
This is how the life of God fills the ordinary and how the world finally heals.
THE VISION
To put the Church back in the hands of everyday people.
Because Jesus didn’t start a system to attend—He started a way of life shared around tables, where friends learn to trust Him together and show up for the world with love.
THE MISSION
We help people recenter faith on who Jesus is, reimagine discipleship around tables, and redirect their energy into being a friend in the world.
To that end, we create:
Podcasts — ongoing conversations about grace and freedom
Parties — spaces where faith comes alive around food and drink
Provisions — practical resources to help people live free where they are
This is not a brand you join. It’s the movement Jesus already started.
